We did an event for another one of our hotel clients and this time it was in a more intimate setting in one of their meeting rooms, “the library”. The interior decorators did a great job killed it with the look and feel of this one. I’m loving the orange decor.
It was a private party for 30 doctors that flew in from all over for a special evening.
This is our favorite bartender, Miguel. He gives us one life lesson per visit.
Just did a party for one of our top hotel clients the other night. Always great to see out of towners experience our food in such a great city. There was a mime cutting sushi? Wait a minute…
Some shrimp and tuna nigiri. Mmmmmmm
We brought out some salmon and tuna sashimi. No those are not baby carrots. Gosh!
The party had some other great food as well. The use of color on these setups are beautiful.
And don’t forget dessert! That is if you have room. Coma time.
We came across this great iphone/ipod application that acts as an encyclopedia of sushi, hence the name sushipedia. This free ap allows you to look up different sushi terms and names of your favorite rolls. Displaying vibrant photography , Sushipedia shows general ingredients in a any roll along with its history and it even allows you to browse different attributes whether its raw, cooked, veggie and spicy. Want to get brave? Why not order the next random item that appears under the ‘I’m feeling lucky’ section. Imagine taking this on your next dinner outing and testing your favorite sushi chef’s knowledge. 5 out of 5 nigiri.
I know we are in the business of sushi but to give our clients and viewers an insight of what we are into when prepping in the kitchen or working in the office, I thought it was only appropiate to show you what type of music we listen to. I am by all means not a professional writer but I do have strong music views, especially when it comes to hip-hop or just good music in general. So anyways…after listening to the Kid Cudi album pretty much everyday since it came out, I had to write a little review about it.
If you’ve been living under a rock for the past 3 years, you had to have come across Kid Cudi’s infectious ‘Day n Nite’ single that steamrolled its way from the internet highway onto your radio waves. He made all the proper career moves from releasing a great single to catching the attention of Kanye West to releasing a track on the Transformers 2 OST while at the same time keeping close to his fans on his twitter page. I must admit, with the amount of anticipation and hype surrounding this young man, I had doubts on his debut. Before the album even dropped, I firmly believed that it was going to be a make or break situation for Cudi. If the album was a flop (sales-wise and content-wise) he would fall off the map and be known as just a one hit wonder.
So how did he do? Pretty damn good. He took the Day n Nite vibe and ran with it. When I mean ran, I mean he ran really really far. Like out of this universe. So what do you classify this as? Emo Rap? Sure why not. But by all means this is not a negative connotation but the only way to really describe such an honest album. I had to even reassure my opinion with fellow Cudi listeners. Seems like everyone I spoke to had their own personal attachment to a song’s verse or even a chorus. Let’s admit it. We are growing tired of the typical ‘bragadocious’ rap. Cudi’s timing is impeccable. Well done.
In a time when record sales are scarce and competition is getting fierce (Drake’s mixtape rerelease, Jay-Z’s BP3 and Raekwon’s classic release), the kid from Cleveland did quite well selling over 100k in its first week. Not bad for a kid who started off working retail at the Bape store in New York.
Kid Cudi’s Man On The Moon album gets a 4 out of 5 nigiri.
just wanted to share this sweet idea. we’ve all seen cute cake designs as well as cake failures. this sushi cake by Honeypunch Studios has been floating around the internetz. you can tell a lot of cake decorating skills went into this cake.
inspiration can come from anywhere. the following is definitely no exception.
Sitting one evening at her usual Japanese dining spot, while making idle chit chat with the sushi chef they came across a topic: the technique of slicing and how it is a form of art. With a thirst for learning and not for sake, Emma Elizabeth began researching sliced elements…
this is one of those things that makes you say “ahh, how cool is that”. makes you wonder what’s next… a luggage manufacturer of large sushi bags for the sushi lover? all jokes aside, this is out of the box thinking at its’ best.
The tourist promotion group of Oita City (Japan) came up with this clever advertising campaign in the airport using this conveyor sushi idea to promote their fresh and yummy sushi.
new for you die hard star wars fans are these chopsticks made by Kotobukiya. now only if they light up… in theory, real mini-lightsabers would (a) slice what you are grabbing or (b) singe that raw fish at the touch.
you can’t get any fresher than live uni. we all have stuff reserved on our “to-do” list and some of these things happen by chance, like live uni. when someone tells you something is fresh there’s no better indicator than seeing it alive.
a delicacy and aphrodisiac, you want to ensure freshness as to not ruin the experience. read more…
